Today, we’re fortunate.  Our phones casually collect most of our social moments in selfies, but occasionally there are events so important you want them preserved more thoughtfully.  While you may not need a photographer at the annual family picnic, you do want well crafted pictures for your walls or gifts to grandparents. And trust me, in business, clients draw conclusions about you from that clumsy headshot taken on your spouse’s smartphone. Those conclusions are not always positive, nor even neutral. You need a professional to create a professional look for you on the web and in publications.  This is where you might select me or another pro.

So why me? First, and most importantly, the shoot will be easy, professional, and result in beautiful images. Secondly, it will be relaxed (or quick if you’re on a tight schedule). Truly.  If you scheduled this, it has to be important to you. It shouldn’t be a chore, and I won’t let it be.

In my experience the real enemy is anxiety. If you’re like most people, your comfort level thinking about sitting for a professional portrait ranges somewhere between serious discomfort and terror. When you think about it most of that trepidation is because you don’t know what to do.  You warn yourself that you’re no model. You don’t know what to wear, what to do with your hands, how to stand, and what about the kids. They won’t behave.  I really don’t have time. I just don’t take a good picture…..

This is why you hire a professional for important pictures.  We will take charge and set you at ease.  We know how best to position and pose you for the most flattering results.  You’ll get advice on preparation like clothing and grooming.  Just enjoy the process, and the beautiful results.

Finally, let me add that I’ve found that I love and excel at taking pictures of people.  Sharing these important moments with other people is, for me, so moving.  It’s such a privilege.
